ด้วยสถานีตำรวจประจำสนามบินนานาชาติฮ่องกงได้มีหนังสือขอความร่วมมือทางการไทยในการแจ้งเตือน
นักท่องเที่ยวไทยที่จะเดินทางมาฮ่องกงว่า การพกพาเครื่องช็อตไฟฟ้า (Stunning Device) เข้าฮ่องกง
ถือเป็นสิ่งผิดกฎหมาย และหากถูกค้นเจอก็จะถูกดำเนินคดีตามกฎหมายฮ่องกง มีโทษปรับ 1 แสนดอลลาร์ฮ่องกง
และมีโทษจำคุกไม่เกิน 14 ปี ทั้งนี้ ในเดือน ก.พ. 2558 มีนักท่องเที่ยวไทยถูกจับกุมและถูกดำเนินคดีไปแล้ว 2 ราย
โดยต้องโทษจำคุกตั้งแต่ 1 วัน ถึง 1 เดือน และถูกปรับ 1,000 – 20,000 ดอลลาร์ฮ่องกง และในเดือน ก.ค. 2558
มีชาวไทยถูกจับกุมในคดีดังกล่าวอีก 1 ราย ซึ่งคดีเช่นนี้ได้เกิดขึ้นมาแล้วกว่า 3 ครั้ง ในปี 2557
ในการนี้ เพื่อเป็นการป้องกันมิให้นักท่องเที่ยวไทยถูกดำเนินคดีตามกฎหมายฮ่องกงโดยรู้เท่าไม่ถึงการณ์
สถานกงสุลใหญ่ ณ เมืองฮ่องกง ขอประชาสัมพันธ์และแจ้งเตือนให้ทราบว่า
กฎหมายฮ่องกงห้ามมิให้ผู้ที่เดินทางเข้ามายังฮ่องกงหรือเดินทางผ่านฮ่องกงไม่ว่าโดยทางอากาศ ทางทะเล
หรือทางบก พกพาเครื่องช็อตไฟฟ้า หรือแม้กระทั่งใส่ในกระเป๋าเดินทางเช็คอินก็ตาม
เนื่องจากถือเป็นการครอบครอง “อาวุธ” และเป็นการกระทำความผิดร้ายแรงตามกฎหมายฮ่องกง
